Our Story
How We Met... Like I was saying before it was in the second semester of grade 10 where I met Federico. We spent our lunches flirting with each other; he loved to help me cheat when we were playing cards. We eventually starting spending time outside of school together and it was super easy since we lived in the same condo. One time I mentioned to him how cool it would be to receive a blue rose. It was on December 23rd 1997 when Federico came over to watch a movie with me and he brought flowers for me. I figured it was for christmas, so I open it up and there and behold was a blue rose. I was so surprised. There was a card attached; the front said Merry X-mas, I then flipped it to the back which read "PS: will you go out with me?". Of course I said yes :)...Over 9 years later...here we are planning our wedding!
The Engagement... For Canada Day long weekend a group of us went to the Bruce Peninsula for a fun weekend of camping at Cyprus Lake. On Saturday June 30th we all decided to go on a hike to go see the sites of the park. It was a gloomy day and it rained a bit while we were walking...but I didn't care. I was just so excited to see this one area called Indian Head Cove (from the internet pics it looked absolutely beautiful). When we finally arrived I was taken back, it was better than in the pictures, it was breath-taking! We were at the bottom of the cove and Federico suggested that we go up on the cliff and get someone to take pictures of us, I said sure. We gave the camera to our friend Rajiv and headed up the cliff. We got to the top and the sun broke through the clouds and stayed out for a few minutes. The view was fantastic! We were very close to the edge so I sat down. I was enjoying the view when I wondered why it was taking Federico so long to sit down. I turned around and there he was on one knee holding out the ring! My jaw dropped. I will never forget what he said to me; "I love you with all my heart. You mean the world to me and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." My gosh, the tears started pouring! I responded with; "What do you think I'm going to say?.."of course, yes!". I could not stop crying or shaking! I was so happy. We had to stay up there for a few minutes. We heard cheering below us once our friends realized what just happened. We eventually made are way down to the shore to celebrate with the group. We found out that Rajiv noticed what was going on and continued to take pictures, so we are lucky enough to have the proposal on camera. When we got back to the campsite Federico pulled out a bottle of champagne! He had everything planned out! It was such an amazing weekend.
